The much-awaited film Drishyam 2 has opened to a fabulous response. It has brought a wave of cheer to the industry and exhibitors. What has also added to their happiness is that Bhediya, which will release next week, also has generated huge hype. This is due to the concept of a man turning into a wolf, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon’s presence, youthful appeal and music.

Bollywood Hungama has learnt that Bhediya’s censor process has been completed and the makers were given a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the producers had to make certain changes in the cuts, as recommended by the CBFC’s examining committee. The abusive word ‘c*****a’ was replaced with ‘gadha’. At another place, ‘b*******d’ was replaced with a scream, ‘aaahh’.

And that’s not all. The examining committee also asked for changes in certain non-abusive dialogues. ‘Ganga Jamuna mix’ was asked to be replaced with ‘Ganga Jamuna juice’. The word ‘sansad’ was changed to ‘body’ while ‘PMO’ was changed to ‘minister’. Finally, ‘country’ was removed and replaced with ‘logo’.

After these changes were carried out, the censor certificate was handed out to the makers of Bhediya. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 156 minutes. In other words, Bhediya is 2 hours and 36 minutes long. Trade veteran Taran Adarsh mentioned yesterday on Twitter that the run of the time also includes 16 minutes of end credits and scroll. The censor certificate was secured by the producers on Thursday, November 17.

Bhediya is all set to be released on November 25. Besides Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, it also stars Abhishek Banerjee and Deepak Dobriyal. It is directed by Amar Kaushik of Stree (2018) and Bala (2019) fame. Interestingly, Bhediya belongs to the same universe as Stree. Stree’s actress, Shraddha Kapoor, also appears in a special appearance in a song in the film.

Quentin Tarantino is known for his iconic films such as Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill. He announced Wednesday that he anticipated to shoot an eight-episode TV series next year.

According to Variety, the famed director shared news of the project Wednesday night while promoting his new book, “Cinema Speculation,” at a New York event hosted by Elvis Mitchell. The filmmaker wasn’t forthright with narrative or production details around the project. Though specific plot details about what the show is actually about are still under wraps and he proceeds with the television series still remains an uncertainty.

Tarantino has previously worked in television, directing two episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in 2005. He also has writing credits on From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, a TV spin-off based on the 1996 horror-action vampire film, From Dusk Till Dawn, starring himself and George Clooney.

As per the report, the writer-director also shared that he wrote a play before Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was completed. He also stated that he was approached to do a dialogue polish of Samuel L. Jackson’s 2000 Shaft reboot but rejected the offer. Meanwhile, the 59-year-old previously also hinted at his exit from filmmaking in 2014.

“I don’t believe you should stay onstage until people are begging you to get off,” he told Deadline at the time. “I like the idea of leaving them wanting a bit more. I do think directing is a young man’s game, and I like the idea of an umbilical cord connection from my first to my last movie.” Last year, he reaffirmed that he plans quit filmmaking after making his tenth film.

The grand engagement ceremony was attended by Ira’s father Aamir Khan, mother Reena Dutta, Kiran Rao, Aamir Khan’s nephew Imran Khan, grandmother Zeenat Hussain, Ashutosh Gowariker and other family and friends.

Earlier in late September, Nupur proposed to Ira at one of his cycling events in Ironman Italy. Ira took to her Instagram to share the adorable video writing, “Popeye: She said yes. Ira: Hehe. I said yes.”

Earlier, Ira had spoken about her relationship with Nupur and even mentioned how he has helped her with her anxiety. The couple have been dating for a few years now and are often seen on each other’s social media.

Drishyam 2 released today and the response in the cinemas has astonished the industry, exhibitors and trade experts alike. Everyone expected the Ajay Devgn starrer to open well but many lowered their opening day number predictions, considering how several films underperformed in the last few months. Drishyam 2 thankfully stood out and has exceeded expectations.

The demand is such that exhibitors have been compelled to add late night, post-midnight and even early morning shows. This was a trend that was seen for films like Sooryavanshi (2021), Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), Brahmastra (2022) etc. Off late, the trend was paused as several films didn’t do as well. But Drishyam 2 has prompted exhibitors to once again add these shows to cater to the demand.

An official from a multiplex told Bollywood Hungama, “Drishyam 2 is not a big scale film and we were told that only VFX heavy cinema will have such demand. However, Drishyam 2 is proving everyone wrong. We were happy with the advances but we didn’t expect shows to get full in such alarming speed, especially on the release day. Viewers are dejected to see shows are full and are buying tickets for whichever show is available tomorrow or day after. Hence, many cinemas have added shows and some of these will take place post midnight.”

At the time of writing this article, in Mumbai, the Maxus cinema at Borivali, Saki Naka and Bhayander have added shows at 11:45 PM. PVR Oberoi Mall will play a show at 11:59 PM and it’s already fast filling.

And that’s not all. Maxus Borivali will play shows of Drishyam 2 at 12:30 AM, 6:00 AM, 6:45 AM and 7:30 AM tomorrow, November 19. Maxus Bhayander added a show at 7:00 AM while PVR Oberoi Mall added a show at 1:15 AM due to the rising demand. Other cinemas in Mumbai as well as theatres in other cities are also considering to add shows after midnight and early morning. If the demand exceeds tomorrow, shows at this hour will be played on Sunday as well.

As per a report by Pinkvilla, the streaming platform is expected to make an announcement regarding the same in the coming days. Quoting a source in the report, the portal said, “The makers have decided to release the film on January 18 on Netflix. The platform will make an official announcement soon.”

However, it is worth mentioning here that until either the makers or the streaming giant makes the official announcement to confirm the same, the accuracy and credibility of the information remain in question.

Coming back to Sidharth Malhotra, if the film actually gets a digital release, it will be Sid’s second film released on an OTT platform. Released on Prime Video, Shershaah was an instant hit. He was last seen in Thank God, released in theatres on October 25.

Along with him, the film also featured Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh. The comedy-drama performed poorly at the box office.

Currently, the Student Of The Year actor is shooting for his first collaboration with director Rohit Shetty. The filmmaker is all set to make his digital debut with a web series, titled Indian Police Force. A few days back, Sid was shooting a schedule in Delhi. The upcoming web series will also star Shilpa Shetty in a prominent role.
